Whitchurch (Cardiff) Golf Club lies three and a half miles north of the City of Cardiff. The Golf Club is situated on elevated ground overlooking Cardiff City, with Penarth Head prominently visible and the Somerset Coast and Bristol Channel completing a grand panorama.
The course is sheltered from the north by the Wenallt Hills and guarding these hills stands Castell Coch, an historical thirteenth century castle, reconstructed into a fantastical folly. This forms a picturesque setting at all times of the year.
The Golf Club was founded in 1914 and has developed into a fine Parkland course which is rightly noted for its test. The amateur course record is 63, with the Professional record held by Ian Woosnam (62).
