Royal Mid-Surrey are lucky to have two 18 hole courses, a rare luxury for a club so close to the centre of London.
JH Taylor's masterplan created the humps and hollows which are the hallmark of the course named after him. All 18 greens have now been re-built to USGA standards.
The Pam Barton, named in honour of the winner in 1936 of both the British and US Amateur Championships, is shorter but still testing. Unlike the early days, it is full equality now at Royal-Mid Surrey and mixed mens’ and womens’ competitions are played on both courses.
